NitroEurope special issue in Plant & Soil published

Dear NEU colleagues and friends, the special issue the Journal Plant & Soil titled ‘Reactive nitrogen and greenhouse gas flux interactions in terrestrial ecosystems’ emerging from the Solothurn Open Science Conference in 2010 has now been published. The content is accessible for free until the end of August, if you follow the link below.

Biogeosciences Special Issue (update)

The special issue Nitrogen & Global Change in Biogeosciences (http://www.biogeosciences.net/special_issue93.html) is coming along nicely, with 14 papers already published in BG and more in review and planned for submission. We anticipate a total volume of more than 40-50 papers once all submissions have gone through peer review and have been thoroughly evaluated.

The final deadline for this special issue is April 30, 2012. After this date, we cannot accept further submissions.

One Thousand Cranes for Japan

Dear colleagues, we all have heard about the earthquake and Tsunami in Japan, and in the course of preparing for the Nitrogen & Global Change event have been in touch with colleagues from Japan, some of them could not make it to the event due to the substantial damages caused to infrastructure and every day life.

The Edinburgh Declaration on Reactive Nitrogen

This week over 350 scientists, policymakers, industry and NGO representatives gathered in Edinburgh, Scotland at the ‘Nitrogen and Global Change’ international conference.

During the week the first European Nitrogen Assessment was published, the impact of reactive nitrogen on Europe’s wildlife and forests was discussed, and a Nitrogen footprint calculator was launched.
